For the sake of clarity in the presentation of the results, the effects of nuclear bomb testing (which injected large amounts of ¹⁴C into the stratosphere) have not been included here. However, global cycle models are able to simulate the estimated observed oceanic uptake of ¹⁴C following nuclear bomb testing, as shown, for example in Jain; et al., (1996).
