For the sake of clarity in the presentation of the results, the effects of nuclear bomb testing (which injected large amounts of 14C into the stratosphere) have not been included here. However, global cycle models are able to simulate the estimated observed oceanic uptake of 14C following nuclear bomb testing, as shown, for example in Jain; et al., (1996).
